Livonia Churchill Grad Pens Mystery / Romance Novel
When she was a student at Churchill High School in Livonia, Tracy Gardner Beno loved to write short stories and read novels. "It's funny, as an adult I always say I never considered being a writer. But as a teenager all I did was write short stories. Being in the accelerated program (at school) I was exposed to mind-blowing, wonderful teachers who opened my mind to literature. There is a bigger picture, a bigger meaning to stories that resonate ... teachers helped me understand the importance of a good story."

Writing is its own reward. “If you told me I could have a totally free day, I know I sound like a huge geek, but I would sit in front of my laptop and write, chapters in a row. It's like a brownie sundae to me. I love it. I can't get enough of it. I hope that doesn't change. I hope I never stop loving it that much."

Barb Taub: Writing & Coffee. Especially Coffee. Author Interview Review of The Fall of Our Secrets FIVE STARS
"The Fall of Our Secrets, by Tracy Gardner Beno, is an incredible debut novel. The writing is spare and beautiful, the pace has enough action to keep you hooked, while allowing enough time to slowly reveal the secrets of the past and the developing romance of the present. Characters make bad choices, families make mistakes, and people behave according to both their worst and best impulses ..."
Mrs. Mommy Booknerd: Author Interview Q&A with Laura from The Fall of Our Secrets
Laura asks: "Why is it that Nicole gets to wear high end fashion while you dress me off the clearance rack of the local Shop N Save? I mean come on. You put her in Christian Louboutins and Chanel, and she looks stunning in everything she wears. Not fair."

GUEST POST: I have a crush on a guy. He’s not really my type, or at least not what I’d thought of as my type years ago, when crushes were plentiful and I wasn’t yet a wife and mother.
The Little Reading Cabin Review: The Fall of Our Secrets
"Wow is the first thing I'm going to say about this book. It makes you cry in sadness and then has you crying in happiness. This book has tragedy, mystery, romance ... I highly recommend reading this. I absolutely loved it!"
Storm Goddess Guest Post & Review: 4 Lightning Bolts The Fall of Our Secrets
"This book is full of mystery and a wonderful foundation of friends reconnecting. There's a little bit of romance as well, but it's not the main focus on the story. I couldn't put this book down! I loved the reconnecting of these two characters, and the mystery element. There are plenty of emotions and things to surprise the reader. I can't wait to read more by this author!"
Ski-Wee's Book Corner: Excerpt The Fall of Our Secrets
“I want a divorce.” Nicole carefully opens her door a fraction of an inch to let in more of the conversation. Her parents are sitting at the kitchen table, one on each side, and her mother has just uttered the words Nicole has prayed for years she would say. She can’t see all of her dad, only her mom, and her father’s huge hands flat on the table, flanking his beer bottle. She waits for the explosion, the reaction, but it doesn’t come. Not yet.
Polished and Bubbly Review: FOUR STARS Excerpt: The Fall of Our Secrets
"I love this cover. This was a great, easy read. The story is not short on love, drama, and a past that continues to haunt two old friends. The bond between Laura and Nicole is one that lasts forever. This book is a perfect weekend read when you just want to relax and get away to another world. This 4 star book will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next, xo!"
Chick Lit Plus Review: FIVE STARS The Fall of Our Secrets
"Oh my, oh my, where to begin? This book was pretty freaking incredible. I love a good mystery, one with twists and turns and never-ending questions until we get smacked in the head right at the end. This book handles very deep and emotional issues – physical abuse, substance abuse, mental illness, murder, and of course – romance and friendship. The Fall of Our Secrets has a gorgeous cover to go along with an intriguing and intense story between the pages that I found myself struggling to put down."
Brenda Corey Dunne Interview: The Fall of Our Secrets
"I never entertained the idea of being a writer. My parents were both teachers, and my mom is a practical woman. She loves to write and has such an engaging voice, but she raised her two daughters to seek career paths that would allow us to easily support ourselves. After working for years as a Registered Nurse, and having my second child, I sat down at the computer one day and just started typing. The words poured out of me. I had an idea for a story about two friends, and I found once I had the first few paragraphs down, I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters.
Fiction Zeal Book Excerpt and Guest Post: The Fall of Our Secrets
“I didn’t plan to be a stripper, you know,” Nicole said, looking past Laura to the house next door that now bore no resemblance to the place she’d grown up. They were in Laura’s parents’ back yard, on a patio that didn’t exist seventeen years ago. Nicole remembered so many conversations on the other side of that chain link fence, sitting in two wooden chairs on her run-down porch.
Laura’s eyes widened. “Of course not!” She shook her head and gave a short kick under the patio swing to get it moving again. “You did what you had to do. Your brothers depended on you, Nicole, I know that. I can’t even imagine how awful it must have been.”
Nicole tucked a long red curl behind one ear, eyes still on her old house. She didn’t know how to respond to that. A dark orange leaf floated past her from the maple tree and settled with the sea of reds and golds cluttering the patio.
“It wasn’t awful,” she said quietly. Now she met Laura’s eyes, imagining they were right back in those chairs, back in their fifteenth year. Before there were secrets. “I didn’t mind it.” Nicole felt lighter even as she spoke the words. She searched Laura’s face for judgment but found only her friend, the friend she’d been talking to since she was three.
Relatively Yours Guest Blog Post: The Fall of Our Secrets
Love at first sight or falling in love with your best friend? Which is better? Which is more real, more intoxicating, more lasting? Or are each, in their own way, equally real and lasting and ooh especially intoxicating? At the heart of my recent mystery romance, The Fall of Our Secrets, are human relationships. Connections. A story of two little girls who forge a life-long friendship that can’t be broken by years apart or terrible secrets, I realized long after the book was finished how very differently the two friends’ love lives evolved as they became women.

Jenn's Review Blog: FIVE STARS The Fall of Our Secrets
"There are few words to describe the emotions that this books evokes in the reader. There are so many emotions packed into these pages. There is a murder mystery, a friendship spanning decades and a love story all wrapped up in this book. This is one of those books that makes you want to curl up with the book and some hot tea or a nice cup of coffee in front of a fireplace. The interactions between the characters is touching and both the characters and the setting are very well developed. As the reader you feel attached to these characters and what they are going through. This would also make a great book club read because there are so many things that happen in the story that can be discussed and shared. I have recommended this book to quite a few friends. I give this book a 5/5!"
