Short and sweet: I am doing a little research for the next article appearing in the Spring issue of Verite magazine. I'd love input on what your favorite Me-Time activity is! I'm not talking about anything that is a "need to do," a "should do," or a "have to do." I'm talking about the thing you love to do. The thing you finally allow yourself to do at the end of a long day or week...or month. The thing that feeds your spirit and is solely for the purpose of making you happy. Mine is obviously writing. My sister Julie's is scrapbooking---a twelve hour marathon scrapbooking session makes her happier than pretty much anything else. A friend of mine watches back to back to back episodes of Grey's Anatomy on the rare occasions she gets the chance. I don't care what your age is, if you're married or single, have kids or no kids, work or stay at home, we all have that hope in the back of our minds that we might find just a small piece of time now and then to devote to ourselves, accomplishing nothing but feeling good. Your activity doesn't need to be mainstream, productive, or even make sense to anyone but you. No names will be used in the article. But I would seriously love to hear your thoughts: what is your Go-To activity for your Me-Time, however infrequent that may be?

I have a few. Reading a ridiculous number of pages in a good, long book. If I can get from cover to cover in one day, it would be ideal. Watching a marathon of a tv show I've never seen on Netflix. Playing a storyline video ame from beginning to end. Completing a puzzle with at least 1000 pieces. Looking at my list, I apparently require total immersion for an activity to make me happy!

Thanks Beth! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I actually think total immersion is sort of a given for true Me-Time. There's no chance of the outside world intruding...nearly impossible in real life, which is what makes the activity even more priceless when it does happen. I appreciate your input!

I am also introverted, so all of these activities really need to be done in solitude. People are draining. ;)

I like the idea of "total immersion!" For me it is absolutely getting lost in a good book. On the very rare occasion I can read quietly, in solitude, with no interruptions I can truly lose myself. I need that to "reset" myself sometimes :)

Getting lost in a good book is definitely renewing. I always know I'm reading a great book when I find myself thinking about the characters even long after I've closed it. I agree with both of you, certain Me-Time activities are futile with that elusive, enticing "total immersion" idea. Thank you for your feedback!

I' m the one with the back to back to back....I guess, and it's true. I love letting my brain rest and transfer my focus on other people's drama.
